Our Mission
The Graduate Program in Economics at UEM (PCE) is a public state teaching and research program, focused on the assimilation and production of knowledge in various areas of Economic Science. Students, professors, staff, and ex-graduates are united in a common purpose: To learn, research, and lead together in the construction, dissemination, and application of economic knowledge committed to the economic and social development of our region and Brazil. In this purpose we value:

In-depth learning and civic engagement;
Intellectual leadership and ethical responsibility.
Objectivies
- To train Masters and PhDs in Economics with solid theoretical background and analytical skills, and to qualify high-level professionals for higher education teaching, research, and professional practice;
- To contribute to the discussion of relevant topics for the development of Economic Science and the Brazilian Economy through the organization of national, international, regional, state, and local events;
- To promote the exchange of researchers and scholars at the national and international levels;
- To generate new knowledge and consolidate existing ones, serving as research center in the areas of applied economics and economic development.

Collaboration between University of Calabria (Italy) and State University of Maringà (Brazil)
PNRR TNE GPS-Education: Green and Pink for Sustainable Education

The GPS-Education project, focused on Green and Pink for Sustainable Education, financed by European Union, promotes sustainable and innovative education by combining ecological practices (Green) with inclusive and creative approaches (Pink). The collaboration between the University of Calabria (Italy) and the State University of Maringá (Brazil) aims to the development of advanced teaching and learning methodologies, and a dual degree program, allowing students to earn academic qualifications recognized in both countries. The partnership opens concrete opportunities for international exchange for both students and faculty members, fostering educational, teaching, and cultural experiences at both universities.
On September 5, 2025, a meeting was held with Prof. Janna Smirnova (University of Calabria), during which the concrete results of the collaboration between the University of Calabria and the State University of Maringá were presented, including activities related to the dual degree program and opportunities for student and faculty exchanges. The event highlighted the implemented educational innovations and the value of the partnership between the two universities in the field of sustainable education. This initiative represents a model of international collaboration, showing how universities from different countries can work together to provide a greener, more inclusive, and innovative education, offering students and faculty tangible opportunities for global learning.
