The eletric energy appeared in the Brazilian market as an energy alternative, being characterized by strong doses of subsidies and government incentives in attendance to the programs of economic and sovial development. The objective of the present study is to analyze the tariffs practiced in the sector of eletric energy, to determine the existence of subsidies in the sector for consumers' classes. This work gathers necessary elements to analyze tariff policies and the solution of the current problems on the policies previously implemented. Moreover, the issues involving this dissertation could be used to analyze the effects of those policies in the consuming market. This reseach also inclues a descriptive analysis of the data collected by class on the eletric energy production and consumption, on the tariffs charged to diferent consumers's classes, the company operational expenses, and the specification of prices charged in this sector in the State of Paraná. The research concludes comproving the existence price discrimnation through an analyses of variances of tariff.
