The objective of this work is to investigate if there are evidences of maternity postponement in Brazil, and what consequences this phenomenon causes in the labor market. This research analyzes the 1992-2014 period, through microdata obtained from PNAD (National Research by Domicile Sampling). The methods utilized are: i) survival analysis consisting in verifying the characteristics of women surviving without children or postponing maternity; ii) a Mincerian equation with self-selection correction is estimated, with the intention of evaluating the determining factors of women with and without children; iii) decomposition of the difference in wages between women with and without children, through the Oaxaca-Blinder procedure. From this investigation, it is concluded that the maternity postponing phenomenon occurs in Brazil, especially in years circa 2014, and that childless women earn higher wages in than their counterparts do.
