Multidisciplinary Laboratory for Regional and Sustainable Development - LDR
The Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Regional and Sustainable Development (LDR), coordinated by Professor Marina Silva da Cunha, began to be used by PCE professors and students in December 2018. This laboratory was funded by FINEP (Financier of Studies and Projects) and SETI (Secretary of Science, Technology and Higher Education of the State of Paraná), in the institutional project called "Implementation and consolidation of research infrastructure for emerging groups at the State University of Maringá", in 2010.
The LDR laboratory is a masonry building covering an area of 120 m2, located in Building B59-UEM, attached to the Graduate Program in Economic Sciences. The building has individual areas, separated by low partitions, for six research groups, with a total capacity of 25 people, as well as a meeting room and another for the Workstation, where the workers and other equipment for storing information will be installed. There are also toilets, an eating area and a storeroom.
At the LDR laboratory analyses on regional development are carried out, which are in line with the PCE's research fields. The studies carried out focus on spatial techniques, which are important tools for geospatial research, such as the production of urban space, productive agglomerations, migratory flows, socio-economic and environmental impacts, demographic dynamics and social inequalities. In this context, the aim of the LDR is to provide a multi-purpose space equipped with equipment that can be accessed by researchers investigating the above-mentioned themes.
