The present study is a set of diversification of the agricultural production of Cerrado biomes through two analyzes, a first consideration on the agricultural production, livestock, vegetal extraction and silviculture, jointly, from the point of view of the value of production, and the one in which the diversification was carried out of agricultural production, from the point of view of the planted area. Subsequently, the degree of rural development of each municipality, among the demographic, social, economic and environmental, is calculated. Finally, it is related to the level of agricultural diversification with the degree of rural development of each municipality. For a measure of diversification using the Shannon index, and to quantify the rural development a methodology of factorial analysis was applied. The results demonstrated are an agricultural process for the majority of the rural population of the Cerrado, which is a growing process of production specialization, leading to the production of new vegetation regions native to the Cerrado, through the deforestation of large areas. This growth of production in the last decades has generated a significant increase in the value of agricultural production, which is a reflection of the model of validity for the development of agricultural activity is a development benefit, however, calculations show that rural development is not predominantly low and unsustainable, in addition, the econometric results show, corroborating with the international literature, that diversify production, there is an increase in the average yield of permanent and temporary crops per planted area. The results show the importance of a spatial issue for the generation of indicators, such as the countries that receive and are influenced by their neighbors.
