The present work has as main objective the elaboration of a weighted composite index, created as form of measuring the economic activity. The proposed index is justified on the basis that it can be calculated every month in a very fast way. Besides serving for public policies, its application is extensive for other uses by economic agents that come in need of such instrument, especially service sector, industry and agribusiness in their management decisions.
